Abdel Fatah HAMOUDA est né, à Casablanca au Maroc, d’un père artiste comédien et d’une mère styliste. Il a montré un grand intérêt pour le dessin durant son enfance quand il avait environ 6 ans. A l’âge de 7 ans, il a commencé à dessiner des images rencontrées dans des revues. Il copiait également des peintures classiques à l’aide de crayon et reproduisait des images à partir des bouquins de dessins animés tels que Walt Disney ou autres. Mais sa mère pensait qu’il pourrait négliger ses études si elle le laisse s’intéresser davantage au dessin. C’est pourquoi, elle l’a souvent découragé et le grondait même pour qu’il se concentre sur ses études à la maison au lieu de dessiner. Ainsi, il a commencé à dessiner en se cachant de sa famille pour ne pas provoquer sa mère.
Durant ses études primaires et secondaires, son cours préféré était le dessin et la peinture, ce qui a attiré l’attention de ses enseignants qui ont vu en lui un talent caché qui pourrait s’épanouir dans le futur.
Il aimait également la photographie à tel point qu’il consommait chaque semaine un film (pellicule) en utilisant la caméra de son père qui était un Canon AE1 avec un objectif standard de 50 mm. Comme il n’avait ni manuel d’instruction ni expérience d’utilisation de cet appareil, il faisait souvent recours à un laboratoire local pour l’orienter et l’aider à la manipuler. A l’âge de 14 ans, il a commencé à prendre des photos le plus souvent en noir et blanc, et les développer dans le laboratoire local. Il consommait un film (pellicule) chaque 15 jours et se pressait de connaître et comprendre le procédé de développement des photos dans la chambre noire.
Abdel fatah HAMOUDA a été admis dans l’Ecole des Beaux Arts de Casablanca où il s’est senti naître de nouveau dans un large univers. Il se plaisait dans la peinture plus qu’autre chose et passait des heures et des heures chaque jours à peindre et dessiner.
Après trois ans à l’Ecole des Beaux Arts, il a finalement obtenu un diplôme dans la peinture avec félicitation et le premier prix. Par la suite, il a quitté le Maroc pour le Royaume Uni (London) en vue de poursuivre ses études.
Une fois au Royaume Uni, il a compris que ses professeurs n’aimaient pas la figuration et voulaient l’orienter aux arts abstraits, ce qui ne correspondait pas à ce qu’il voulait faire. Il a ainsi arrêté ses études à « Camberwell School of Arts and crafts » et s’est concentré sur des travaux payés tels que les portraits et la nature qu’il vendait aux amateurs privés qui aimaient son style de peinture notamment l’attention qu’il accordait aux détails.
Il était toujours intéressé par la photographie et la peinture et voulait maîtriser les deux arts dans le futur. En septembre 2002, il a repris de nouveau ses études en photographie. Il était déterminé à achever sa formation dans le domaine et ne comptait pas abandonner la photographie en tant qu’art qu’il voulait utiliser en parallèle avec la peinture.
Abdel fatah HAMOUDA est un peintre talentueux et un photographe expérimenté qui aime son travail aussi bien devant un tableau de peinture qu’au sein de la chambre noire.

Abdel Fatah Hamouda born in Casablanca, Morocco to an artist comedian father and a stylist mother. During his childhood around the age of six, he showed a great interest in drawings. At the age of seven, he began drawing images from magazines, copying classic paintings in pencil and sketching pictures from animation books, such as Walt Disney and so on. But his mother thought that he would neglect his studies if she let him draw longer. Therefore, she often discouraged him and yelled at him to concentrate on his home works rather than drawing. Hence, he began to draw secretly from his family in order not to provoke his mother.
During all the years in primary and secondary schools, his most preferred course was drawings and paintings, which attracted the attention of his teachers, who saw in him a hidden talent that would bloom in the future.
He also loved photography and used one roll of film weekly using his father’s camera, which was a Canon AE1 with a 50mm standard lens. As he had no manual instruction for it and no ideas how to use it, he often asked a local lab for guidence and help. At the age of fourteen years old, he began exploring and taking photographs in black and white mostly, which he had developed in the local lab. He used one film roll every fortnight and always had an urge to know and understand the developing process in the darkroom.
Abdel Fatah Hamouda joined "L'Ecole Des Beaux Arts De Casablanca" which made him feel as a new born in a wide universe. He enjoyed painting more than anything else and spent hours and hours every day painting and drawing.
After three years in the "Ecole Des Beaux Arts", he was finally rewarded a diploma in painting with distinction and was given a first prize, then left Morocco for the United Kingdom (London) in order to carry on his studies.
Once in the United Kingdom, he realised that his teachers did not like fugurative and wanted to lead him towards abstract arts which was not what he liked to do. He gave up his studies in "Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts" and concentrated on commissioned works such as portraits and still lifes which he sold to private art lovers who liked his way of painting especially in his careful attention to details.
He was always interested in photography and painting and wanted to master both arts in the future. In September 2002, he went back to study photography again and was very determined to finish his education in this field and will never give up photography as an art which he would like to use side by side to painting.
Abdel Fatah Hamouda is a talented painter and experienced photographer who enjoys his work whether in front of a painting or in the darkroom.
